OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS STOP ON THE ROAD TO VALUES

29 Sep OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS STOP ON THE ROAD TO VALUES

Thank you Susan from Barnes and Nobles for hosting me this evening. On the road to values, I am always blessed to meet some amazing people who share their personal stories with me. I am consistently reminded of the message “Love Connects Us All.” My journey also highlights the fact that at some point everyone has experienced hardship or pain. However, rarely do I meet someone that doesn’t feel that their challenging experiences made them stronger or better in some way. This is the power of adversity. This is the power of the universe giving us moment to moment opportunities to change and be authentic, better versions of ourselves.
Tonight I was reminded of another lesson. It came to me on magnet that they were selling at the Barnes and Nobles in Oak Brook. It said, “Don’t let the past take up too much of your today.” I agree. It was also a good reminder. The past is where some people let the adversity that they faced cloud their present and their future. All of our past (even one moment ago) is nothing more than a collective of memories. It is up to you to press play to start that tape of thoughts. You can just as easily press stop and live in this moment unencumbered by antiquated beliefs that no longer serve your highest good.
But how do we move forward? The answer is simple. We need to forgive ourselves and others. We need to remember that at every moment, people are doing the very best they (or we) can with the tools and information that they have in any given moment. If people could do better, be better, or respond better, they would. When we move though the world of pettiness and pride, then and only then, can we move toward love. It is in this love that we will fully connect with ourselves and others. And the past, that will stay where it belongs…behind you. #Loveconnects
