THE ROAD TO VALUES

03 Sep THE ROAD TO VALUES

I’m so excited to share with you what I’ve been up to! I have been traveling for the past five weeks to promote Back to the Basics and the series, The Adventures of Meg. I started my trip excited to share my message about the five core values of Love, Truth, Peace, Right Conduct, and Nonviolence. I had a great plan to share the message of love. I have always felt that it is a true gift and privilege to do this on a daily basis.

As most “great plans” are, mine was thrown a twist very early. I was reminded that this road to values was not only about sharing with others, but also a constant reminder for me to practice what I preach, EVERY MOMENT OF EVERY DAY. Traveling, living out of a car, and working with a vast array people can be a challenge (to say the least). In fact, as many of us have faced, it’s difficult to keep all of the balls in our lives successfully up the air. We inevitably drop one now and again. This is the beauty of the journey. It is about living in the essence of love and not letting either the static of life, egos (mine and others), or the stress of the experience derail me. I was prompted constantly about remembering my mission. Therefore, I make a conscious effort to move through every day with a smile on my face, kindness in my words, and love in my heart.

On this trip, I was invited to speak at the Secret Knock in San Diego. It was a great honor for me to be amongst such amazing people. I was interviewed there and was asked, “Do you practice these values?” Without hesitation, my answer was “Yes.” That being said, I have been known to slip up and miserably fail life’s “daily quizzes.” It’s not always easy to take the higher road, smile when you’re tired, or be pleasant when stressed. I have had a few moments in the last five weeks where I momentarily lost my way. My “quiz scores” have ranged from a D to an A depending upon the day. Nonetheless, the consciousness of knowing that I am not living in full view of my values is easier to recognize day by day and quickly corrected.

One day, love and all that follows it will be a part of me as easily and quickly as it is to blink my eyes. My journey has reminded me that it is not the steps you take, but the efforts you make. It’s not about being perfect. It’s about being authentic and living with integrity. No one is perfect. Frankly, it’s an unobtainable goal. We are all here on this planet having a human experience, but with that humanness we should make a conscious effort to practice kindness, humility, and love.

I started on this road to values as a journey to inspire, motivate and share my message. Yet this journey has motivated me to strive, even more, to be the best version of myself. Some of these lessons have been hurtful and some have been lovely. But in the end, they were all just what I needed. They remind me to start my day with love, fill my day with love, and end my day with love. This is the only way to live. #Loveconnects
